该剧集以单元故事的形式，围绕两个犯罪案件展开，主要讲述了S市的富豪们仿佛受到了某种诅咒，一个电影明星及两位企业老总相继离世，而且死因都十分离奇。更离奇的是，这三起杀人案的案发现场竟然都有一个黑影出现过。于是，S市刑侦大队迅速展开调查。嫌疑人中有S市首屈一指的女富豪，有玩世不恭的富二代，更有社会底层的混子......他们错综复杂的社会关系，让整部剧增添了几分神秘色彩。。Disarmingly realistic in its depiction of the realities of frontier life, Heartland is a strong antidote to the cliches of traditional Westerns. This semi-documentary slice of life is based on the diaries of Elmore Randall Stewart about her days on the Wyoming frontier in the early 20th century. It's a strongly feminist statement about a woman raising her small daughter alone and scrapping for a living by working for a shy Scottish rancher. Director Richard Pearce brings an endearing touch to a film that is helped greatly by the dazzling cinematography of Fred Murphy. Conchata Ferrell and Rip Torn star in this small film that substitutes veracity for a high-powered plot. Pearce worked as a cinematographer on Woodstock and other documentaries before making his directorial debut. Winner of the 1980 Berlin Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival。
