Richter Boudreau is a son of local celebrity Cynthia who is not very successful and works as a film critic for local newspaper. In a short time he loses his job, heritage, and one of his "friends" starts to blackmail him. His only hope is that others around him are even bigger dummies.。克林特·伊斯特伍德在片中饰演一位现代的猎人，专门追捕警方悬赏缉捕的歹徒。这一次他的盯梢物件是个性懦弱的新纳粹主义分子，不料歹待的同伙竟然把他的小婴儿绑架了去，导致婴儿的母亲急如热锅上的蚂蚁。于是他反过来帮忙歹徒的妻子救回她的孩子，而片名所指的粉红色凯迪拉克轿车就是故事中主要的道具。导演不强调暴力动作场面，反而将本片拍了出了一点喜剧味道，主角的搭档也颇有新鲜感。。
