本剧改编自Lauren Beukes的畅销小说《The Shinning Girls》。故事讲述Kirby Mazrachi（Elisabeth Moss饰），一位芝加哥记者，她从一次残忍的袭击中幸存了下来，但在追寻这个袭击者时，她发现自己的现实发生了巨大的变化。在了解到近期一起凶案跟自己情况相似后，Kirby和麻烦不断的资深记者Dan Velazquez（Wagner Moura饰）组成搭档，一起查明袭击者的身份。两人逐渐发现这些悬案有所关联，但他们的私人创伤和Kirby自己模糊不清的现实，导致袭击者总是抢先一步。。A troupe of struggling stage actors is rehearsing for a small-town production of a play. Everything seems to be as it should until one of the cast members turns up dead. In a panic, the others try to get out, only to find they are now locked in the theater with the killer! Which one of them committed the murder, and who will get out alive?。
